Data Platform Support Architect (Costa Rica)

Job Overview

As the Data Platform Support Architect, you will be responsible for supporting and solutioning our proprietary system Agora features, specifically within the technical support and dev teams. This role will help analyze, test, and assist with solving complex issues as they arise. This role will act as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment and must have in-depth experience, knowledge, and skills in a broad range of orchestration and compute services. The role will be a key resource for other BTS colleagues with less experience. This position will have the opportunity to work cross-functionally and help shape and influence more reliable, secure, and scalable platforms. Additionally, the Data Platform Architect will be required to remain on top of industry trends and new technologies for the system architecture, good understanding of cloud computing and technology systems, as well as experience designing, implementing, and delivering complex software solutions.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

Azure Platform Support:

• Monitor and manage Azure resources, including Data Factory, databases, web applications,
networking, and serverless functions.
• Collaborate with the development and operations teams to ensure optimal configuration,
deployment, and scaling of Azure resources.
• Handle incident management, ensuring timely resolution of issues and minimal downtime.
• Provide guidance on best practices and optimizations for Azure resource utilization.

Data Engineering Support:

• Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and architectures.
• Troubleshoot data ingestion, processing, and distribution issues.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to ensure data quality, consistency, and
availability.
• Optimize data storage, retrieval, and processing operations.

Power BI Support:

• Support the development and deployment of Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Troubleshoot issues related to data sources, data modeling, and visualization in Power BI.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and feedback for continuous improvement
of reports.

Python Data Analytics Support:

• Assist teams in data ingestion, transformation, and loading processes using Python.
• Troubleshoot and optimize data analytics workflows and pipelines.
• Provide tier-3 support, resolving complex technical issues related to platform services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address and mitigate recurring issues.
• Document solutions and create knowledge base articles for recurring problems. Must be able to
perform code review when necessary.
• Assist in the ongoing system support and maintenance where required.
• Recognize weaknesses in our technology and organization and provide constructive feedback
solving issues impacting the business.
• Serve as the interface subject matter expert for various enterprise application
analysts/personnel providing technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers as
needed.
• Develop and drive the adoption of BTS Support and Best Practices to the wider Organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 7+ years’ proven experience in Azure platform support, data engineering, and Power BI.
• Ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experienced in developing and communicating both architectural plans and implementation
details to internal and external audiences.
• Proven experience delivering enhancements to system processes driving operational reliability
and improved availability and quality.
• Experience in information architecture supporting complex large-scale environments, including,
processes and methods of an established architecture function.
• Track record of solving complex technical challenges and owning critical systems.
• Solid understanding of software development methodologies, agile practices, and continuous
integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and defect tracking tools (e.g., Azure Test
Plans).
• Knowledge of database systems, SQL, and data validation techniques.
• Experience with team capability development – including onboarding, continuous training/upskilling,
and career development.
• Strong analytical skills to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and maintain a positive team dynamic.
• Understand and prioritize the needs of internal and external customers.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and technologies in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to understand and relate to the challenges faced by users and stakeholders.
• Efficiently prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills both virtually and in person
• Experience working with geographically disperse teams.
